Being a mom of boys definitely has its challenges, but it also comes with many unexpected rewards. I grew up always thinking I wanted a girl but now after having two boys it is hard to imagine my life any other way. Having only boys, especially rambunctious ones like mine, is exhausting yet so very fulfilling. I confess though that I am still surprised by their unruly behavior at times. When this happens, my husband quickly points out, “They’re boys,” and that, my friends, is undoubtedly true.
Here are three great things about being a mom of boys:
They are your little loves. Young boys can be so adoring of their mamas. My sons love to give me kisses and tell me they love me. My oldest has even said he wants to marry me when he grows up. These are such sweet words and yet these words will most certainly cause him great embarrassment someday. Not that I would ever bring it up when he’s in high school…
They treat you like a pretty, pretty princess. My boys love to pick flowers for me and make me feel pretty. Not one pretty flower (aka dandelion) goes unpicked in our yard. Being boys, they have no use themselves for flowers, but they enjoy giving them to me. My little guys come running with such proud looks on their faces and hand me the beautiful flowers they have found for me. My oldest always wants me to put the flowers in my hair and my youngest even goes so far as to fill my jacket pockets with them. My boys always notice when I polish my nails and will run up and comment on how pretty they look. They also like to play with my long hair. My youngest always gently pushes my hair aside if it gets in my face so he can “see mama’s eyes.”
They don’t mind the noise of bodily functions. One day a mom, who shall remain anonymous here, had an unexpectedly loud burp come out at the dinner table. Her boys both started laughing immediately as though it was the funniest thing they’d ever heard. As a mom of boys, you need not worry about grossing others out around the house. With little effort, you can usually find or hear something that tops whatever you’ve done.

It’s so true! My boys love to show off and impress me. They also like to be my helpers. My eldest, 6 yrs old, is especially helpful. One night, he knew I was extra tired and folded and put away my laundry for me and then cleaned up the house! What a sweetie!!

That was SO sweet of him to do! My oldest also enjoys helping and his “help” is actually starting to be useful.:)
